Dina Shimouk

Dina Nikolaevna Shimouk was born near Moscow in1936. Soon her family moved to Byelorussia. Her most vivid memories are associated with WW2. She remembers how her mother and two little sisters managed to escape from a convoy being driven to a Nazi concentration camp; how they sheltered in a forest, and the snow was so dazzlingly white and sparkling - she has never seen anything like that since. After the war she studied at the Theatre and Art Institute in Minsk, then she worked in a puppet theatre. Later followed an unusual turn in her destiny, her studies at the History Department of the Byelorussian University. Most of her life Dina Nikolaevna has worked as a scientific associate at the State Museum of Byelorussia. She was involved in preparation of numerous exhibitions. One day she chanced to see most fascinating cards: floristic compositions, bouquets and posies. They appealed to her very much. She made up her mind to try and make something like that herself. She succeeded and made a good start. It happened when Dina Nikolaevna was passed fifty. Only then did her artistic talent revealed itself to the full…
